Well, we took 2 days off last week to attend the Adobe CS3 conference in LA. Not a fan of LA. Anyhoo, the conference was pretty good overall. The new suite looks pretty great and I can’t wait to start using the new tools. A few things kind of bug me about CS3 collectively, namely that there are so many stinking products. It seems like there is a bit of crossover between the products as well. I am sure that they did their marketing research and found that people use Photoshop for different things and that there need to be 2 versions, yada yada, but I am just overwhelmed by the sheer number of products:
The Master Collection which retails for $2,500, includes:
Adobe Bridge CS3
Adobe Version Cue CS3
Adobe Device Central CS3
Adobe Stock Photos
Adobe Acrobat Connect
Adobe Dynamic Link
Adobe InDesign CS3
Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
Adobe Flash CS3 Professional
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Adobe Fireworks CS3
Adobe Contribute
Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
Adobe Soundbooth CS3
Adobe Encore CS3
Adobe OnLocation CS3 (Windows only)
Adobe Ultra CS3 (Windows only)
Granted we use quite a bit of this software and the price break for buying the Master collection is surely worth it.
The conference was pretty nice, most speakers were well prepared and gave good presentations, even though a few of the breakouts were way too basic. Also the food was amazing! Wolfgang Puck Catering gets a big thumbs up from me.
